VARC's first location was across from the fairgrounds on Main Street in Viroqua.
VARC, Inc. began from a small office space with 6 individuals attending services.
Individuals attended VARC daily to learn fine and gross motor production skills.
One of the earliest jobs of VARC's clients was building and repairing furniture for families and businesses in the community.

In 1990, groundbreaking took place to develop a new space for VARC services.
Production became a fast-growing area of VARC. By this time, VARC had employed numerous non-disabled workers for production work as well, offering a more integrated work environment.
With the building expansion came a growth in services. Supported Employment, Residential services, and opportunities for recreational programming became part of VARC's range of services.
In 1996, VARC expanded to Sauk County, offering prevocational services and transportation.
New production responsibilities were assumed, and capabilities expanded further.
VARC began providing Supported Employment and Skills Enrichment services at our Sauk division.
VARC, Inc. expanded services to Richland County and began services as a pilot county with family care.
In 2010, VARC began providing services in Juneau County, customizing programming to individual needs.
